From practice – corrosion-resistant fiberglass pipes instead of stainless steel – short construction time, international partners, two continents and a new material. A new gas-fired combined-cycle power plant in Turkey is to supply a smaller city within 17 months; however, the general conditions for the construction are sporty. A medium-sized pipe manufacturer from the Rhineland is awarded the contract for the engineering, planning and construction management of the cooling and process lines. A history of modern power plant construction in globalized times, from which the German energy industry can also draw learnings.

In 2009 alone, Fiberpipe GmbH increased its sales by 25 percent. The pipe specialist achieved the largest single turnover with a cooling water pipe in Turkey: at 3.1 million euros, this was the company’s largest single industry order to date. For companies from the energy, chemical industries and the process industry, Fiberpipe GmbH is now also presenting itself for the first time at the Hannover Messe.

Fiberglass is on the rise in pipeline construction – also and especially in the energy industry. This is because the material is insensitive to flue gases, heat, chemical and force effects. Low weight and advantageous processing properties enable fast assembly processes that bring price advantages.
